The mythical 5.0 GPA at Gunn, which would theoretically be achievable by taking only weighted classes and getting As in all of them, does not seem to have been achieved by any person in Gunn's history, although some people, such as Alan Lee, have come close. The actual maximum GPA is significantly lower than 5.0, and more likely around 4.66, due to freshman classes being unweighted and the presence of mandatory unweighted classes such as Living Skills. However, if a student activist could reverse the freshman grade deweighting and convince the administration to add some more honors and AP courses such as AP PRIME and AP SELF, a 5.0 GPA would become possible, and a student will certainly try to achieve it.
