Mrs. Granlund

From Gunn Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Ms. Granlund is the main engineering teacher at Gunn. She teaches Principles of Engineering (POE) and mentors the Gunn Robotics Team.

In the past, she also taught Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) and Digital Electronics (DE).

Policies and Idiosyncrasies

Ms. Granlund insists that her IED and POE students complete their work in pen for readability purposes, except for diagrams and drawings.

According to her, she does not often grant extensions because students tend to procrastinate away the extra time given. However, she does allow assignment revisions.

Ms. Granlund describes herself as "not an easy grader", being quite keen on catching small mistakes and docking points for them, so be sure to follow good practices (which are the practices she expects) when completing work. She also expects students, especially Honors students, to think more deeply when given an open-ended question.

Personality

Ms. Granlund's personality can be described in many ways. She can be at times somewhat cold, similar to Dr. Mellows, and does not sugar-coat things or talk down to students. If there's something you don't understand, it is almost certainly worth it to ask her; she is perfectly willing to clear things up and correct mistakes without getting annoyed or judging you. She also has a nerdy sense of humor and starts every class with an XKCD comic.

She is an extremely hardworking teacher and devotes significant time to the robotics team and to grading notebooks.
