{{Humor}}The mythical 5.0 GPA at Gunn, which would theoretically be achievable by taking only weighted classes and getting A's in all of them, has not been recorded by any person in Gunn's history, although some people, such as Alan Lee, have come close. There is a prophecy that one day, a person will come to Gunn who has a 5.0 GPA, who will win the international math, chemistry, informatics, biology, and physics olympiads, who will get into Julliard by playing an unknown instrument, and who will qualify for all of the most prestigious summer camp programs. Such a person has not come to Gunn yet, although there are some Gunn students, such as Agustya Goel, who have come close to fulfilling the prophecy. There are serious doubts as to whether such a GPA can even be achieved at Gunn due to the existence of mandatory unweighted courses such as [[World History]] and [[Living Skills]], as well as freshman courses not being weighted. Thus, many Gunn students have denied the prophecy as not being true. The theoretical maximum weighted GPA is 4.75, given that freshman classes are not weighted.

The mythical 5.0 GPA at Gunn, which would theoretically be achievable by taking only weighted classes and getting As in all of them, does not seem to have been achieved by any person in Gunn's history, although some people, such as Alan Lee, have come close. The actual maximum GPA is significantly lower than 5.0, and more likely around 4.66, due to freshman classes being unweighted and the presence of mandatory unweighted classes such as Living Skills. However, if a student activist could reverse the freshman grade deweighting and convince the administration to add some more honors and AP courses such as AP PRIME and AP SELF, a 5.0 GPA would become possible, and a student will certainly try to achieve it. The student's name is John Galt.
