GunnWiki's mission is to provide useful information to Gunn students from a wide range of backgrounds. As such, we need to ensure that factual information on the Wiki is true and free of errors, but this also means that we need to represent the major points of view held by students, parents, and teachers. These points of view should be described fairly and faithfully, and their relative prominence among the community in Gunn should also be stated. If there is a general consensus among the Gunn community, this should also be made clear in the article.

What to do if you encounter a biased article?

If you encounter a biased article, here are the steps you should take:

  1. Rewrite the section in question to describe the point of view so that it is clear that it is an opinion and not a fact. The point of view should also be faithfully described, and its prominence and relevance to the Gunn community should be made clear.
  2. Look for info in other reliable sources to figure out which point of view is stronger. These sources could include the Oracle, local news media, or the Gunn website. Please make sure to cite where your information comes from, per GunnWiki:Citation needed.
  3. Look for other points of view that could add light to other sides of the story. These could be your own point of view, that of your teachers, that of your friends, or that of your parents. Just make sure to describe it objectively, faithfully, and with a clear reference to its prominence and relevance in the Gunn community.
