According to Gunn rules, all students in the hallways during class time must hold a hall pass.

A hall pass is a laminated red tag, about the size of a half-sheet of paper, that is hung on a lanyard. Each classroom is given 2 hall passes with their classroom number written on them. Teachers and students have raised concerns about sanitariness of hall passes because they are frequently taken into bathrooms.

The hall pass policy is very laxly enforced. It is very rare for students without hall passes to be stopped by school administrators. However, some teachers may insist that students use them.

Starting 2025-2026, the hall pass system will be digitized.
