Digital hall pass

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, a digital hall pass system will be implemented in all classrooms. It is based on students scanning their student ID barcodes, or entering their student ID in a keypad.

Functions

According to Mr. Olah, the new system has two functions: teachers can optionally use it to take attendance, and students are required to use it whenever they leave class. They must sign out when they leave and sign back in when they come back. Some sort of timer^{[clarification needed]} will go off of the student is gone for a long time.

Mr. Olah stressed that the new system is not intended to be "Big Brother"ish, instead, it is a safety measure so that the school knows where students are in the event of some incident. Also, he said that students will not be "hunted down" if the timer goes off.

It deserves mention that the old physical hall pass system was very laxly enforced. It is unclear how much this new one will be enforced, if at all.
