Christopher Johnson, or Mr. Johnson, is a history teacher at Gunn. He teaches AP US History and World History. In addition to teaching these courses, he is an AP grader for APUSH.
Personality
Mr. Johnson is very passionate about history, and used to participate in Civil War, Revolutionary War, and World War II battle recreations. Because of this, he has very good knowledge of history and is generally a nice person to talk to about historical events. He also will gladly talk about his three children, of whom he is very proud of.
Mr. Johnson also has a sense of humor, and commonly cracks jokes with his classes. Most are made in reaction to classroom discussion or a humorous fact attached to a historical figure. He has referenced his age in many discussions, remarking that he "is close to being ancient, but no way near Mr. Lib". His ancient-ness has also allowed him to amass a large amount of historical books, as well as being the APUSH teacher for none other than Ms. Howard.
He is also, like a few teachers, particularly opposed to the policies of President Trump, and often cracks subtle jokes about him without mentioning him by name.
Policies and idiosyncrasies
It appears that Mr. Johnson limits the number of college recommendations he writes, and gives them on a first-come-first-served basis. For students in the class of 2026, he said that he'd filled his list by April of 2025, so be sure to ask early if you want a letter.
