Gunn Student Simulator

From Gunn Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Gunn Student Simulator is a simple text based game, hosted on Github here. It satirizes the student workload at Gunn, giving you more and more work per night to manage until you have no time for sleep nor friends. It also satirizes SELF, using the juxtaposition of cheery school assemblies with the almost comedic amount of work assigned, characterizing SELF as a useless distraction instead of an actual fix.

The "Info" tab on the website shows the following text:

This game accurately portrays the life of a Gunn student. Students at Gunn must balance their social lives, academics, careers, and commitment to SELF, but to balance one would unbalance another. To win, you need to be able to take the SAT/ACT early so that you can graduate early. However, you can only do that in your free time since homework and test studying takes priority. Anyone may (and should) make own version of this game, though please consider crediting the creator or link to this game somewhere.

Gameplay

The player starts by studying for the SAT/ACT; each time the option is clicked they become 2% more ready. With each passing day they receive homework assignments and tests to study for; as they do this they gradually lose their readiness for the SAT/ACT. If they do not complete their homework or study adequately for tests their grades drop, which will result in their parents disowning them (losing the game). There are also other time-consuming obstacles like after-school SELF and hanging out with friends. Repercussions that will also eventually lead to losing are suffered if they opt out of these things, but if they do them they lose valuable time to study.

There are three different modes: default, a mode with a censored name and the description "Experience firsthand the detrimental effects of technological distractions by losing 1-6 hours every day to dog videos on Instagram, like fellow Gunn student [redacted]" and a bedtime mode in which the player is forced to go to sleep at midnight.
