Credit is what is earned by passing a course. Semester-long courses result in 5 credits, and year-long courses result in 10 credits.
Repeating classes
Courses may only be repeated if the student earned a D or F, or it is a repeatable course. Credit will not be earned a second time if a D was earned, but it will be earned for the first time if an F was earned. The individual GPA point also gets replaced by the new one.
In addition, getting a D or F may result in automatic summer school enrollment, which removes the need to repeat a course during the school year.
In the case of repeatable courses, they can always be repeated, and repeating results in more credit than taking it once. The GPA score is not replaced in this case.
