Course catalog description

The AP Language and Culture courses provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency at the intermediate to pre-advanced range in each of the 3 modes of communication on the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Students are expected to: engage in spoken and written interpersonal communication; synthesize information from a variety of authentic audio or audiovisual resources; synthesize information from a variety of authentic written and print resources; plan, produce and present spoken and written presentations. The 6 broad themes of study include beauty and aesthetics, contemporary life, families and communities, global challenges, personal and public identities, and science and technology.

• Prior Recommended Course(s): Level 3 or department approval; grades 10-12

• Homework Expectation: Up to 2 hours per week

Should I take this course?

This class is generally less stressful than Spanish 3, though students should be able to express themselves and have confidence in their Spanish abilities.
